About the Position
Reports to the Human Resources Manager. Receives close supervision on new or unusual aspects of work assignments. Work assignments are reviewed by others. Will regularly be assisted by other staff to complete work assignments.
Assists with full-cycle HR duties,including recruitment, on boarding, reviews, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance reports, and exit interviews. Uses discretion to address concerns, and provides suggestions and feedback to senior leadership.Maintains benefits information, assisting with open enrollment, answering benefits questions, and escalating as needed. Asks for assistance as needed.Checks their own work before passing it on for review by others.
Specific duties may include the following:
- Answer employee questions verbally and in writing
- Serve as main point of contact to staff for HR-related questions.
- Will maintain the HRIS, once implemented, and provide reports, as needed
- Maintain HR documents, including handbook, personnel files, and employee directory
- Assist with reviews, performance plans, and coaching
- Handle full-cycle recruiting activities, including posting jobs, phone interviews, scheduling interviews, and on boarding
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism

- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time
Communication: Interacts routinely with other staff. Communicates clearly and effectively in written or oral form with colleagues. Interacts with others in a professional manner exercising tact and diplomacy as needed to maximize cooperation. Assists with the development of HR materials and may interact with customers or vendors on a limited basis.
Project Management Duties: Does not typically manage entire projects, but is able to manage individual tasks independently. Anticipates potential challenges and possible solutions and communicates these to colleagues. Meets internal and external deadlines, providing extra effort as needed. Demonstrates awareness of schedules related to their own work tasks. Successfully manages multiple tasks in tandem and demonstrates some capacity to triage.
Administrative Duties: Adheres to administrative deadlines (time sheet submittal, other general office duties) and is responsive to accounting and other administrative staff when called upon to provide information.
Business Development Duties: Assists with the company’s business development activities by assisting with recruiting efforts and providing reports as needed.
Position Type, Location, and Work Hours
This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. Little to no travel is anticipated for this position. Work hours are consistently 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, with the expectation that evening and weekend work will be required as necessary.
Exemption: This position is considered exempt from the over time and minimum wage protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Salary and Compensation
This is an entry level position.Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes our robust benefits package, 100% of health insurance for employees (including dental and vision).
